October Devlog
Hi everyone! Time for this month's wrap up and devlog.
As you all know, I released Chapters 8 and 9 during the last update. There were some major plot developments and a mildly steamy scene for some characters in Chapter 8.
I'm now working on Chapter 10 where the plot moves into the final act of the story and there is also the 'big' spicy scene. If you haven't checked out the last update, now is a great time because Chapter 10 is about 80% done.
Summary:
- Finished all expressions for Chapter 10
- Set up flowcharts for Chapter 10
- Coded in flowchart unlocks for Chapter 10
- Set up chapter re-cap for the previous episode
- Descriptive glossary entries for the new BGs
- Music and SFX coding for Chapter 10
- Daaz's CG is lined and flatted and ready for rendering
- Asher's CG is lined and flatted and ready for rendering
- Started sprite staging for the final episode
Art
So I am working on CGs for chapter 10. Progress is slow. I have a lot going on in real life. My hand has been acting up so my drawing time each day is limited. And the CGs are complicated.
Wil is in them. They involve complicated character interactions - IE the characters are kissing or embracing which is much harder to draw than two characters sitting side by side.
A lot of the complexity comes from not just the poses but how Wil's different customization features have to be layered to work in the game.
I have Daaz and Asher's CGs lined, flatted, and ready for rendering.
I'm also going to try to do a mini CG for each scene - similar to what I did for Gilded Shadows.
So I have two of those ready for rendering as well.
And getting the CGs done is kind of my main focus.
Coding and Other
So I've obviously done a ton of code related things. Finishing expressions, doing music and SFX, coding in a few translations and glossary articles (mostly descriptive text ones), the chapter recap...
And the flowchart for chapter 10. Which is a chonky boy. But is already set up and set to unlock.
On days when I can't really draw due to a lot of interruptions in real life, I've been working on sprite staging for the final episode - which is basically 3 separate chapters for each character. The overall content is about 113,000 words. It's nice to get a headstart on sprites from now.
But all I'm doing is spending some time setting up the entrances/exits and positions for the time being.
Writing
Just the descriptions for the glossary and the recap. Nothing interesting.
Upcoming Month
CGs. These are going to take a while for sure because I have limited time I can work on them and they're complicated.
I intend to get at least four of them complete before putting Chapter 10 in beta. Because they're taking such a long time I want to have most of them done before moving part of the game into the next phase.
I'm hoping to be in beta by my next update here though.
Life is a little chaotic at the moment which also slows me down but that's where things are for now.
The chapter is mostly complete and playable. It just needs the CGs.
