Devlog - Reuben's Route (progress)
Hi everyone!
I'm just posting a quick update here since I haven't posted one since Quill's route released.
I am currently finished with the rough draft of Reuben's route and have started working on revising it. I finished the draft earlier this week so I've just started revisions - and am currently in chapter three. Revisions can be difficult to predict in terms of when I will finish. It's not like drafting where I can set a daily word count. Revisions take as long as they take.
Currently the route is 111,000 words. That's "uncoded" (for those new to my updates who haven't seen me mention it before, routes always lose a lot of words when they get coded because Renpy counts the words the player sees and doesn't count any extraneous things like labels and conditional statements).
I don't know how long it'll be when I'm done revising. My revisions tend to add to the word count though. So...probably longer.
I haven't started on any of the art for the route yet - or any coding. Right now my focus is just on writing!

Wow , you've been working hard!! I am SO FREAKING appreciative of you!!! I just now noticed that Quill's route was released, and as much as I want to play, I'm going to wait for Reuben's route to be finished because I'm going to be salty just playing one route xD This world you created is so incredibly amazing, you could easily make tons and tons of spinoffs on it due to how vast, expansive and interesting it is. I'm honestly obsessed with it, and the characters and writing are just as amazing. (Of course, so is everything else like art too! Ironically I was just thinking of Ari's sexy self just yesterday and was thirstin xD I just happen to be on itchio today and came across your game in my list but I have that man in my head just going about my day LMFAO.) And, normally I will take years to replay a game but I seriously want to replay every route in your game after only playing it earlier this year. I'm just obsessed!
Okay, trying not to gush haha, my point of messaging was really to say how I appreciate how hard you've been working. Never thought these routes would be worked through this quickly, you've been working hard to give us content that we enjoy and that is noticed by your fans! It means the world to have an indie game developer that spoils their fans like this and keeps them in the loop. Please pleaseeee be taking it easy xD Don't collapse from all the hard work and I'm sure late nights haha. But it's definitely not easy to finish a project so I commend people who have the diligence and dedication to carry out such hard work. So I am proud of you and appreciative, that's all I want to say! Have a good rest of your week and stay safe this winter season!

I have (believe it or not!) been much more conscious about overworking myself on my main project (which is Gilded Shadows). I'm trying to not work on the weekends or late at night any more...
On my main project. 🤣🤣
But my side projects are more relaxing (in theory).
But I am also doing more reading - I read Star Daughter recently, started The Dream Runners, re-read Howl's Moving Castle! Caught up on some manga series I paused reading...
I even played a game! LoL
It's not like I was doing research or anything and that's the only reason I played it...
So I am trying to balance things better these days, I swear! 🤣
Anyway, thanks for commenting. Hope you have a lovely and safe winter/summer (whichever it is where you are! It's summer here but weirdly cold, so it doesn't feel like it yet). 👀
I am so looking forward to this! I went into the game "cold" - didn't look up anything beforehand - and Reuben's preview was the first route I hit. I was so disappointed to only have the preview! haha I've been through all the other routes now and love them, but I'm still looking forward to Reuben's.
Awww. I can imagine that would be frustrating. Hopefully Reuben's route is enjoyable when it releases. It's been fun to work on it. 💖💖
